Empowering Nurses at the Bedside and in Business

Are You A Lifelong Learner?

We can learn so much from nature. In nature, things are either flourishing or dying. I take that concept to heart because I want to continue growing and flourish instead of being on the other end of the spectrum.

One of the ways to grow is to be a lifelong learner. Certainly, we have to take continuing education classes as part of our nursing jobs but that helps only one aspect of being the whole you as a nurse: the career part. However, there is so much more to a person including social, emotional, financial and spiritual aspects. So, what are you doing to grow in all areas of your life?

With the hours that nurses work and with the difficulty of the job, it’s hard to find time to nourish those other parts of your being. But by nourishing those other parts of your base will really help you be a better nurse so that you can continue growing in all areas of your life.

Knowledge is power and life is too short to let it slip by. So, take advantage and learn everything you can about things outside of nursing that are of interest to you so that you can continue to grow and be a well-rounded person.

Take it from one who knows, you won’t regret it.
